संक्षिप्त परिचय- शारदा एवं गोमती नदी के तट पर बसा जिला पीलीभीत अपनी पौराणिक मान्यताओं के कारण प्रसिद्ध है. पीलीभीत की भूमि ने कई बड़े उपन्यासकार एवं साहित्यकार दिये हैं, साथ ही पीलीभीत मेनका गांधी का संसदीय क्षेत्र भी है. मेनका गांधी भारतीय जनता पार्टी की सदस्य एवं प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ हैं. वे गांधी परिवार की बहु भी हैं. ऐतिहासिक परिप्रेक्ष्य- रोहिलखंड ब्रिटिश पीलीभीत के लिए 1801 में भेजा गया था. उस वक्त पीलीभीत, बरेली जिले का ही हिस्सा था, जो 1871 में पीलीभीत उपखंड के रूप में गठित किया गया. इस जिले में जहानाबाद भी शामिल था. ब्रिटिश शासन की शुरुआत में पीलीभीत, जहानाबाद और बीसलपुर का गठन तहसीलों में किया गया. वर्ष 2015 में पीलीभीत जिले में दो नए तहसील कालीनगर और अमरिया बनाए गए. जिले के धार्मिक इतिहास की ओर देखें तो राजा मोरध्वज की कहानी सुनने को मिलती है, जिन्होने अपने बेटे को आरे से काट कर कृष्ण भगवान को आधा और आधा उनके साथ आये सिंह के रूप में अर्जुन को खिलाने के लिये दे दिया था, उन्हीं राजा मोरध्वाज का किला दियूरिया के जंगल म Read more...
