झारखंड जिले के दक्षिणी भाग में स्थित जिला पूर्वी सिंहभूम कोल्हा मण्डल का एक जिला है. जिसका का गठन 16 जनवरी 1990 में किया गया. यह एक हिंदीभाषी जिला है तथा छोटा नागपुर पठार का भाग है. राज्य के औद्योगिक विकास में अहम भूमिका निभाने वाले पूर्वी सिंहभूमि जिले का कुल क्षेत्रफल 3,533 वर्ग कि.मी. है, जो कि झारखंड का लगभग 2.03 प्रतिशत है. वहीं जिले का करीब 53  प्रतिशत क्षेत्र छोटी- बड़ी पहाड़ियों से ढका हुआ है. खनिजों के दृष्टिकोंण से यह जिला काफी समृद्ध है. साथ ही यह जिला देश के नक्सलवाद प्रभावित जिलों की श्रेणी में भी शामिल है. इतिहास – स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति से पहले पूर्वी सिंहभूम जिला पुराने मानभूम जिले और पुरानी धालभूम राज्य का भाग था . इसे अपना पृथक अस्तित्व 16 जनवरी 1990 को मिला, जब पुराने सिंहभूम से नौ ब्लॉकों को अलग करके एक नए जिले (पूर्वी सिंहभूम) का गठन किया गया. यही नहीं बल्कि आजादी के बाद इस जिले को वृहत सिंहभूम जिले के साथ विलय भी कर दिया गया. ऐतिहासिक दृष्टिकोण से भी यह जिला काफी महत्वपूर्व है. कहा जाता है कि आ Read more...
