Right to information Maharashtra (RTI 2005)

We finally received a reply from Maharashta General Administration department .In a letter received on 02/11/2015, it is stated that there is indeed a web portal specific for Maharashtra state where RTI applications can be filed online - https://rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in/index-e.php

Though this is a welcome first step, the service seems to be limited as of now ("Presently online filing of RTI application/first appeal is available only for the Mantralaya Departments and not field offices. ")

Also, we think that when the infrastructure was already in place (In the form of Rtionline.gov.in ) there was no need to spend more of taxpayers money in getting an exactly similar website created.These funds could have been used somewhere better!

In any case, we believe that the complete transparency and optimization in national RTI system would not be achieved until all the states are on a common online platform and a nation wide Information transparency and flow policy is devised.

Therefore, keeping this Action group open.
