India estimates $2.5 Trillion to combat climate changes, major part is supposed to come from Tax Payers pockets. That will take out a lot of schools and hospitals, public infra off the table.
But are we making enough pedestrian friendly infrastructure in India to cut down the carbon emission at the first place. We talk about a lot in city brochures about green spaces, sustainability etc but when we actually implement them its always vehicle friendly even when they crawl on roads at < 4 KMPH. But people can't use alternate modes since there is just no safe way.
