Lucknow to see Las Vegas' Bellagio fountains soon

The world class fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas would soon become a sight close home- adorning the clean waters of Gomti from June. Drawing inspiration from popular musical fountains of USA, the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has recommended installing a giant size Bellagio fountain near Gomti, as a part of Gomti riverfront project.

River Gomti being decimated in the name of riverfront development in Lucknow, will now see Las Vegas Bellagio's Musical Fountains. Bellagio fountain is in Las Vegas and there is a reason to it, its a symbol of casino economics, and how the pomp and show is used by the largest casino for its means. A city where basic sewerage, waste management facilities are not in place and is the main reason natural drains are now sewerage drains, and a 960 km large river is dyeing. Its a shame!

What are we looking for?

Based on empirical evidences and experiences in recent past we are looking at a water catastrophe in India. The country faces drought or deluge, millions moving out of agriculture and then into urban systems without any transition or training. This will not only give to loss of life and land but can be a reason of major unrest in India.

At this point of time we are aiming to build a strong representation to protect water and natural systems at the local level. We want policy interventions and strong implementation at states level to keep natural resources untouched and free to take their own form for generations to come.
