अखिल भारत हिन्दू महासभा को देश की पहली राजनीतिक पार्टी माना जाता है, जिसकी नींव प्रखर राष्ट्रवादी नेता पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय ने रखी थी. भारत की आज़ादी के आन्दोलन के दौरान ही इस पार्टी का गठन हो गया था. पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय ने देश भर से हिन्दू महासभा के नेताओं, राजा-महाराजाओं, क्रांतिकारियों आदि को हरिद्वार में एक सभा में आमंत्रित किया था, जिसमें राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर अखिल भारत हिन्दू महासभा की नींव रखी गयी थी.
