पश्चिम चंपारण भारत के बिहार राज्य में एक प्रशासनिक जिला है, जो बिरगंज के पश्चिम में सिर्फ 60 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह तिरहुत डिवीजन का एक हिस्सा है। जिला मुख्यालय बेतिया में स्थित है। यह जिला नेपाल के साथ अपनी तरल सीमा के लिए जाना जाता है। पश्चिम चंपारण के प्रमुख स्थानों में से एक कुमारबाग है और वृंदावन कुमारबाग का है जहां महात्मा गांधी ने सत्याग्रह आन्दोलन शुरू किया था।

नौतन जिले से 2015 में नारायण प्रसाद भारती जनता पार्टी के विधानसभा चुनाव( 2020) के विजेता रहे है। 2011 की जनगणना के अनुसार, पश्चिम चंपारण जिले में 1483 गांव और 5 शहर हैं, और जिले की कुल जनसंख्या 3,935,042 है। भारत की 2011 की जनगणना के समय, जिले में 95.23% लोगों ने हिंदी, 2.97% उर्दू, 0.99% बंगाली और 0.66% कुरुख को अपनी पहली भाषा बताते है।
भाषाओं में भोजपुरी, बिहारी भाषा समूह में लगभग 4,00,00,000 लोग बोलते है, जो देवनागरी और कैथी दोनों लिपियों में लिखी गई है। यह कवि गोपाल सिंह, नेपाली की जन्मस्थली है। राष्ट्रपिता राजेंद्र प्रसाद, अनुग्रह नारायण सिन्हा और ब्रजकिशोर प्रसाद के साथ महात्मा गांधी ने 1917 में यहां से चंपारण सत्याग्रह आंदोलन की शुरुआत की थी।
