Assam Information Commission

Right to Information Act 2005 mandate timely response to citizens' requests for government information. This attempts to provide a Portal Gateway to the citizens for Quick search of information, web published by various departments in Government. Since, on-line uploading of the documents by various Union / State Governments/ departments is in progress, only those departments have been listed, whose documents are either uploaded on this portal, or appropriate links have been set to their websites for RTI related information. Government Organizations can contact National Informatics Centre for User ID for uploading information pertaining to pro-active disclosures, and any other information, which may be of public interest.

The State Information Commission will be constituted by the State Government through a Gazette notification. It will have one State Chief Information Commissioner (SCIC) and not more than 10 State Information Commissioners (SIC) to be appointed by the Governor.

Oath of office will be administered by the Governor according to the form set out in the First Schedule.

The headquarters of the State Information Commission shall be at such place as the State Government may specify. Other offices may be established in other parts of the State with the approval of the State Government.

The Commission will exercise its powers without being subjected to any other authority.
