Uttar Pradesh's new and seemingly energetic Cheif minister Mr. Yogi Aditya nath on his visit to Gomti Riverfront in Lucknow on Monday(27/03/2017) looked disappointed and distressed with the over expensive project.
He was infuriated with the progress of the mammoth project over which more than Rs 1400 crores have been spent till date and only 60% of the work is possibly accomplished.
He looked unhappy and stated that the objective of the project should have been cleaning the river and blocking the sewage going into the river instead of spending crores on pomp and show.
He said it is miserable that with expenditure over Rs 1427 Crores and time lapse of 2 years the project is still 60% completed. Warning the officials incharge of the project, he said-Corruption will not be tolerated in his state projects.
In his inspection visit he asked the officials to look into the possibilities to connect this project with 'Nammi Gange' project to plug the drains falling in the river and this would also help in reducing the cost on the state exchequer.
He said that a demand of additional Rs 1500 crores was made for this project that was scheduled to complete this May 2017. He further added that instead of spending funds on unnecessary things like fountains, it should be utilised tapping the drains falling into the river.
He directed to the principal secretaries of the all the departments to ensure the completion of work in qualitative manner.
